Synopsis
IFCI shares are in focus as the NSE IPO moves closer to the market, with investors watching IFCI, NSE shares, IPO plans and the potential value of NSE holdings.

IFCI shares rose in early trade on Monday, September 7, as investors continued to track the impact of the National Stock Exchange's proposed ₹30,000 crore IPO. The stock touched an intraday high of ₹107.36, coming close to its 52 week high of ₹107.50.
The move followed SEBI's approval of the long awaited NSE IPO on September 4. The proposed issue is expected to become India's largest IPO, surpassing Hyundai Motor India's ₹27,870 crore issue from 2024.
IFCI has indirect exposure to NSE through its stake in Stock Holding Corporation of India. Stock Holding Corporation owns around 4.4% of NSE, making the proposed listing an important event for shareholders with indirect exposure to the exchange.
The NSE issue will be entirely an offer for sale, meaning existing shareholders will sell shares and NSE itself will not receive fresh funds from the IPO. The proposed offer covers up to 14.89 crore NSE shares, representing around 6% of the exchange's paid up capital.
Several major institutional shareholders are expected to sell part of their NSE holdings through the IPO. State Bank of India plans to sell around 2.47 crore shares, while GIC Re and Bank of Baroda are each expected to sell around 1.1 crore shares.
New India Assurance is also expected to sell nearly 1.05 crore shares. The IPO will give these existing shareholders an opportunity to monetise part of their holdings once NSE enters the listed market.
The latest move has pushed IFCI close to its 52 week high after strong trading activity in recent sessions. The stock was among the actively traded shares on Friday, with turnover of around ₹4,197 crore and more than 40 crore shares changing hands.
Technical analyst Rajesh Palviya of Axis Securities said IFCI had moved above the ₹90 to ₹93 resistance zone on heavy volumes. He gave targets of ₹112 and ₹127, with a stop loss at ₹95.
Investor interest in IFCI has also been supported by the government's earlier approval of a ₹500 crore capital infusion through a preferential share issue.
The NSE IPO remains the main market trigger for the stock at present. SEBI has cleared the IPO process, while the price band and final subscription schedule are still awaited. Media reports have indicated a September launch, but the exact dates will depend on the company's subsequent filings.

IFCI is attracting strong interest because of its indirect exposure to NSE, but investors should also consider its valuation and own financial performance.
IFCI shares are rising as investors react to SEBI approval of the NSE IPO and the potential value of IFCI's indirect NSE exposure.
IFCI's long term outlook depends on its own business performance and the value that may be realised from its indirect NSE exposure.
IFCI holds around 52% of Stock Holding Corporation of India, which owns about 4.4% of NSE, giving IFCI indirect exposure to the exchange.
The NSE IPO could support IFCI sentiment by giving investors a clearer market value for NSE, but it does not guarantee that IFCI shares will rise.
IFCI is one of the listed companies linked to NSE, but whether it is the best beneficiary depends on its NSE exposure relative to its overall market value and business.
The NSE IPO is the proposed public listing of the National Stock Exchange, while IFCI is in focus because of its indirect NSE exposure through Stock Holding Corporation of India.
The NSE IPO could attract strong investor interest, but its attractiveness will depend on the final valuation, IPO price and NSE's future earnings.
There is no guaranteed target for IFCI after the NSE IPO. The stock's future price will depend on NSE valuation, IFCI's fundamentals, market sentiment and its own earnings.
IFCI remains a stock to watch because of its NSE exposure, but after a sharp rally investors should also assess valuation, profitability and whether the expected NSE value is already reflected in the share price.
