Synopsis
PFC share price falls 2.66% as weak Q1 FY27 performance, lower disbursements, margin pressure and PFC REC merger uncertainty weigh on sentiment. Here’s the latest PFC stock outlook, valuation and key factors to watch.
Power Finance Corporation shares remained under pressure on August 20, with the stock trading around ₹366, down 2.66%. The decline comes amid concerns over weak Q1 FY27 performance, lower disbursements, pressure on net interest margins and uncertainty around the proposed merger with REC.
The stock is also trading well below its 52 week high of ₹486. Investors are now assessing whether the recent correction creates a valuation opportunity or signals continued pressure on earnings and loan growth.

The recent weakness has been linked to concerns around Q1 FY27 performance. A sharp decline in fresh disbursements, slower loan growth and sequential pressure on the loan book have raised questions about the pace of business expansion.
Net interest margin compression has added another concern for investors. Brokerage target price cuts following the quarterly results have further affected sentiment, while uncertainty over the proposed PFC REC merger continues to remain an important near term factor.
| Factor | Current impact |
|---|---|
| Q1 FY27 performance | Negative |
| Fresh disbursements | Weak |
| Net interest margin | Under pressure |
| Loan growth | Slower |
| Brokerage targets | Reduced by some firms |
| PFC REC merger | Uncertainty remains |
| Valuation | P/E of 4.69x |
| Dividend yield | 5.01% |
The combination of weaker disbursements and margin compression has affected the near term earnings outlook. Investors are likely to focus on whether loan growth and lending activity improve in the coming quarters.
The proposed PFC REC merger is another major factor. Until there is greater clarity on the definitive share swap ratio, execution timeline and structure, the merger can remain a source of uncertainty for the stock.
PFC finances infrastructure projects across India's power sector. Its fund based products include project term loans, equipment financing, short and medium term loans and debt refinancing, while its non fund based offerings include guarantees and letters of comfort.
The company's exposure to India's power infrastructure investment cycle remains an important long term factor. Rising requirements for generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure could support financing demand, although the pace of loan growth and margins will remain important to monitor.
PFC's near term share price outlook remains cautious as investors digest weak Q1 trends, lower disbursements and margin compression. The stock's 4.69x P/E, ₹433 book value and 5.01% dividend yield provide valuation support, but these factors alone may not trigger a sustained recovery without improvement in business momentum.
For investors tracking PFC, the key levels and developments to watch include the ₹330 52 week low, recovery in loan disbursements, net interest margins, loan growth and further announcements regarding the PFC REC merger. A revival in earnings growth and business activity could improve sentiment, while continued weakness may keep the stock under pressure.

At ₹366, the stock is also closer to its 52 week low of ₹330 than its 52 week high of ₹486. This price movement makes the upcoming earnings trajectory and business growth particularly important for investors.
