Synopsis
Jefferies stock picks remain in focus as investors track market views across consumer, healthcare and auto component companies.
Jefferies has retained its Buy rating on Hindustan Unilever and Fortis Healthcare while naming Sona BLW Precision Forgings and Bharat Forge among its preferred auto component stocks. The brokerage sees further earnings growth across the companies, with its targets pointing to meaningful upside from current levels.
The calls cover three different themes. Jefferies expects premium products, rural expansion and better execution to support HUL, while Fortis could benefit from higher hospital occupancy, capacity additions and improving margins. In auto components, the brokerage sees stronger earnings growth than original equipment manufacturers.
Jefferies has retained its Buy rating on Hindustan Unilever with a target price of ₹2,450, implying around 25% upside from the level cited in the report. The brokerage expects premiumisation, new categories and wider distribution to support the company's growth.
HUL is also targeting cost savings over the next few years, with management planning to reinvest these savings into brands, media, pricing and distribution. Jefferies expects these initiatives to support margins over the medium term, although it has lowered its target from ₹2,850 because of near term margin pressure and a broader valuation correction across FMCG stocks.
Jefferies has also retained its **Buy rating on ** Fortis Healthcare with a target price of ₹1,125, representing around 23% upside based on the report.
The brokerage expects Fortis to benefit from higher occupancy, improving profitability and expansion at existing hospitals. Brownfield expansion and planned oncology capacity at hospitals including Jaipur and Faridabad are among the areas being watched.
Fortis has also faced investor attention after the Delhi High Court ordered a forensic audit into historical transactions. Jefferies believes the audit is unlikely to materially disrupt the company's operations, expansion plans or broader strategy.
Jefferies is also positive on Sona BLW Precision Forgings ** and ** Bharat Forge as auto component companies continue to show stronger operating performance than vehicle manufacturers.
The brokerage said the 20 auto component companies it tracks delivered 19% year on year EBIT growth in the June quarter, compared with 10% growth for OEMs. It also noted that nine companies received more than 3% upgrades to FY27 consensus earnings estimates during the September quarter.
Sona BLW and Bharat Forge are Jefferies' preferred names in the segment. The brokerage sees opportunities from expanding business relationships and growth beyond their traditional markets, although valuations across several auto component stocks are above their long term averages.
