Indian IT stocks rose sharply on Tuesday, September 15, with HCL Technologies, TCS, Infosys and Tech Mahindra among the biggest gainers. The Nifty IT index rose 4.69% to 30,279 in morning trade.
The rally followed calls from leading artificial intelligence executives for a slowdown in AI development. IT stocks also became some of the biggest contributors to gains in the Nifty 50.

The buying was also seen across midcap technology stocks. Mphasis rose 5.69% to Rs 2,424.70, while KPIT Technologies gained 4.35% to Rs 578.10.
Tata Elxsi rose 4.22% to Rs 3,528, Hexaware Technologies gained 3.86% to Rs 516.40 and Persistent Systems advanced 3.26% to Rs 5,717.70.
The IT sector rally came after leading AI executives called for a slowdown in AI development. The comments eased some concerns around the pace of AI expansion and its possible impact on technology companies.
The Nifty IT index was the top sectoral gainer in morning trade, with five large IT stocks among the biggest Nifty 50 gainers.
HCL Technologies is a global IT services company focused on AI, digital, engineering, cloud and software. It has more than 226,300 employees across 60 countries.
