Synopsis
TCS HyperVault is making a major move into AI infrastructure with a new Hyderabad data centre campus, putting TCS, AI computing and India's data centre sector in focus.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and its partners will invest up to ₹70,000 crore, or about $7.4 billion, to develop a 1 gigawatt AI data centre campus in Hyderabad, Telangana. The project is being developed by TCS subsidiary HyperVault in phases.
HyperVault has secured 264 acres of land in Hyderabad for the project. The campus will be built for artificial intelligence companies and hyperscalers that need high density computing capacity for AI training, inference and other advanced workloads.
The planned HyperVault campus will have capacity of up to 1 GW once fully developed. The project will be executed in phases, with the pace of development linked to customer demand and changes in AI technology requirements.
The facility is designed to support high density GPU deployments and liquid cooled computing infrastructure. At full buildout, HyperVault expects the campus to rank among India's largest AI infrastructure facilities.

The investment comes as demand for AI computing infrastructure increases. AI companies and hyperscalers require large amounts of computing capacity to train and run advanced AI models, increasing demand for specialised data centres.
TCS CEO K Krithivasan said Hyderabad provides the scale, talent and technology ecosystem needed to support global customers. The project also expands TCS's presence in AI infrastructure beyond its traditional IT services business.
HyperVault's Hyderabad campus is being developed specifically for AI workloads rather than as a conventional data centre. Its infrastructure is planned around high density GPU deployments for training and inference.
The project could also create demand across supporting areas such as power, cooling, networking, construction and engineering as the campus is developed in phases. However, the final scale will depend on customer demand, infrastructure development and the pace of investment.
The announcement adds another major AI infrastructure project to TCS's broader technology strategy. The company has also been expanding its capabilities through acquisitions and partnerships as demand for AI and digital services grows.
The data centre announcement comes shortly after TCS agreed to acquire Porsche AG's automotive and consulting unit MHP for $373 million, expanding its services in the automotive technology segment.
The next focus will be on the phased development of the Hyderabad campus, customer commitments and how quickly the planned 1 GW capacity is brought online.
