ICICI Bank shares gained in early trade on September 3 after the lender emerged as a major beneficiary of the recent rise in FCNR(B) deposits.
According to IIFL, ICICI Bank mobilised $17.9 billion, or around ₹1.7 lakh crore, through FCNR(B) deposits. This was about 14.1% of total system inflows, compared with the bank's roughly 7.1% share of overall deposits.

FCNR(B) deposits are foreign currency deposits held by non resident Indians. ICICI Bank's strong share of these inflows highlights its large NRI customer base and deposit franchise.
The deposits came after the RBI introduced a special facility to increase foreign exchange inflows. The RBI reported total FCNR(B) inflows of about $127 billion through the facility.
